Kathy Skrastins

1947 - 2025

Kathleen Marie “Kathy” Skrastins, age 77, passed away peacefully at her home in Falcon, Colorado, on May 22, 2025. She was born on June 17, 1947, in Aurora, Illinois.

Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Igor Skrastins; her sons Tim, Mike, and Dan; and their families, including eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a deeply loved matriarch, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

Much of Kathy’s working life was spent as a school secretary in the Lutheran schools where Igor taught and later served as principal. In that role, she was a quiet but steady presence—welcoming students and parents with kindness, and offering support to faculty with grace and humility. Kathy also worked at Merchants Bank in Winona, Minnesota, and Aurora National Bank in Aurora, Illinois. Additionally, she served as the church secretary at Trinity Lutheran in Madison, Nebraska, and at Holy Cross Lutheran in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

A woman of deep faith, Kathy was a devout Christian who found joy and fellowship in her church community. The friendships she formed through church remained a lasting source of comfort and connection throughout her life.

Outside of work and faith, Kathy had many passions. Kathy loved Longaberger baskets and pottery, which filled her home with a warmth and character that reflected her personality. She found peace and fulfillment in gardening, often tending to her plants with patience and love. She also enjoyed stamping—crafting thoughtful, handmade cards for friends and family—an extension of her gentle and generous spirit.

Those who knew Kathy will remember her as kind, loving, and gentle—a woman who led by example, showing compassion, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to those she loved.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 6, at 10:00 a.m. at The Springs Funeral Services, located at 4310 Austin Bluffs Parkway, Colorado Springs, CO 80918.
