Selanne sings from experience
By Adrian Dater

Denver Post sports writer Adrian Dater posts his Avs Mailbag each Monday during
the NHL season on DenverPost.com. To drop a question into the Mailbag visit DenverPost.com's Avalanche Page.
Is it true that Teemu Selanne wrote a song called "Professional Hockey Player,"
which was released around April 2003? If so, do you know how I could get a copy of
either the single or the album?
-- Melissa Tee, Mississauga, Ontario
Melissa - Why, yes, Selanne did write such a song, and here are some of the lyrics:
"It was evening when I eventually arrived at the new hotel, what city and
how many (cities), it doesn't matter, because the same sort of evenings always
follow one another, this I tell you so you'll understand if we meet somewhere."
The chorus goes: "I am a professional hockey player, I don't blame anyone for that,
every morning I meet the same tomorrow. When I played on home ice I was able to
live a lot, now the size of my life is the size of my hockey bag."
The song was performed by a Helsinki, Finland, band that includes members of
the Finnish cult rock group Leningrad Cowboys.
My advice in getting the single is to hunt on eBay, or do some "Googling" to
see where it might be available for sale. Alas, I don't think it will put ABBA
out of business any time soon in Europe, but hats off to Teemu for taking a stab
at songwriting. It's one more song than I've written.
Just so everyone knows, I have NOT been able to find this song anywhere!!!
If you find it, please let me know where as I am interested in buying it also! Thanks!
